Baisakhi

Baisakhi is a festival that is celebrated by farmers, as it marks the time for harvesting the Rabi crops. The festival of Baisakhi is mainly celebrated in Punjab and Haryana and is considered to be one of the major festivals of Sikhs. Every year it is celebrated on thirteenth April and once in thirty-six years on fourteenth April.

It is said that the festival of Baisakhi has a lot of importance for Sikhs, as the tenth Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh ji laid the foundation of Panth Khalsa on the day of Baisakhi in 1699.
This festival of Baisakhi is a new beginning for the farmers, as it is the time to harvest the crops and they thank God for the rich yield of crops and pray for abundant growth ahead .

To feel and enjoy the Baisakhi celebrations one must visit Punjab and Haryana where people celebrate this festival with full zeal by wearing new clothes on this festival and performing bhangra and gidda, the folk dance of Punjab.
